It was just another day in carpool...

It happens every once in a while: you are with a driver and they almost get into an accident. You are reading or working on your computer and then all of a sudden you feel the car brake suddenly - you look up and you see the car in front of you rapidly approaching. You brace for impact. And then you stop and an accident is averted. The driver offers their apologies and you spend the rest of the commute with an adrenaline rush.

That happened today almost exactly. Except right when we were stopping to avoid the imminent accident in front of us - the car behind us slammed into us. Then we slammed into the car in front of us.


I won't bore you with the details - the rest of the story is like any other accident. There are police, depositions, yadda yadda yadda. But if there was something positive that came out of this, it was the fact that I got to walk through the catacombs of the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza.

I have driven over it a million times. I have seen toll agents emerge from the mysterious stair wells that connect them to the main administrative buildings and I always wondered: what is it like down there?

Well now I know. I had to traverse the bowels of the Toll Plaza to get to the bus stop so that I could make my way into the City. Its quite interesting...
